Studio Kefi was founded in 2022 in Copenhagen.
During the lockdown, when we were compelled to work from home, I felt the urge to find something that could provide distraction and uplift my spirits. I decided to purchase 12 kg of clay and rekindle my interest in the craft after a break of 10 years. Gradually, I rediscovered the sense of tranquillity and peace that pottery brought into my life. Engaging in pottery became a form of meditation for me.
Studio Kefi was born during a trip to Crete. The word “Kefi” is a Greek word that translates as, the spirit of joy, euphoria, passion and enthusiasm. It’s the emotion of completely letting go in the moment, releasing self-consciousness, and allowing yourself to feel life vibrating through your body and soul. I thought right away that there was nothing better that would explain my feelings at that moment and that it was the perfect name for my brand. Dedicated to a slower pace of life and an appreciation for the colours and textures of the earth, each piece at Studio Kefi is a labour of love, meticulously handcrafted with care and attention to detail. Unlike mass-produced ceramics, every item in my collection is unique, a testament to its individuality and character. These ceramics transcend mere objects; they are an invitation to slow down, savour the moment, and immerse yourself in the beauty of handmade art.
The warm and inviting aesthetic of Mediterranean culture is the guiding inspiration behind my creations. From the rich and warm colours to the organic shapes, each piece reflects the diverse heritage that inspires me daily. Prioritizing sustainability, I use recycled clay for the majority of my creations. This not only aligns with eco-friendly practices but also infuses each piece with a sense of history, as the clay has been given a new life in the form of a beautiful, functional piece of art.
